Planning Application CB/12/03143/FULL

for 20 Dwellings to be built at the

Rear of the Guinea

UPDATE from the Parish Council

CHARLES WELLS PLANNING APPLICATION

Following Parish Council meeting of 21st Nov 2012 it was announced by Central Beds Councillor Tricia Turner the application to build 20 properties on the land adjacent to The Guinea pub would be refused.  The developer had not adopted the correct discussion procedure prior to submitting the plans.  Tricia Turner thanked all the people who had written in with sundry technical points relating to the proposed development, saying how important it was to write.  She went on to say that although the responses would be registered with Central Beds, should a further application be forthcoming in the future, these parishioners should be prepared to write again in a similar fashion.

for 18 Dwellings to be built at the rear of the Guinea

The housing development on the land next to The Guinea has been resubmitted by Charles Wells Ltd and Bewick Homes Ltd. They have removed 2 houses reducing the number to 18 but its hard to tell the difference. The four houses that backed onto Bedford Road now face the road. We believe that the other problems identified by parishioners in their previous submissions have not changed. You can see the planning application papers and plans on the Central Bedfordshire website. This development increases the number of dwellings in the parish by about 7% and the number of residents by about 11% and in our opinion is a major development which affects everyone. So wherever you live in the parish be it in Chalton, South Mills or Park Road it will ,affect you and we encourage you to comment or object.

The Parish Council held an open meeting to discuss the development on 26 Jun 2013. You can see a report of what was said here. The Parish Clerk stressed at the meeting that CBC had agreed extend the deadline to ‘early July’.

The Planning Application for 18 Dwellings to be built at the rear of the Guinea has been rejected by Central Beds Council. To see more click here. It would seem from the content that an appeal against the decision has been made. For details about how an appeal would be conducted see the Procedural Guide provided by Carolyn Lister.
