FRIENDS OF ST JOHN’S CHURCH
10th Anniversary Celebration
To celebrate the Tenth Anniversary of the Friends of St John's Church Moggerhanger, there was a party on Friday 22nd February in the Church. Everybody on the list of Friends had been invited and there was a good turn-out of about 45 people. Guests of Honour were Chris and Linda Brett. Chris was a founder member of the Friends and he gave a summary of what had been achieved over the past ten years. Almost £28,000 had been raised through regular giving by people who had signed-up for the scheme with the addition of popular fund-raising events such as Safari Suppers etc. Projects funded were all concerned with the upkeep and maintenance of the church building and churchyard and ranged from repairs to the churchyard wall and tree surgery to major improvements to the lighting, kitchen area and last (but by no means least) the new heating system. The atmosphere in the church was a warm one - thanks to the buffet laid on by the Trustees and others, a quiz organised by David & Christine Horton, and the talk from Chris who was thanked by Rev'd Lynda Klimas. The celebration cake was cut by Linda Brett and the winner of the quiz was Liz Schofield. Anyone interested in helping the Friends of St John's Church with future projects is invited to contact our Treasurer, Pat Whitworth on 01767 640848.
