NEW CHURCH HEATING

Like all churches throughout the land raising funds for the necessary upkeep and improvement is a major activity. After some successful lighting improvements early in 2011 the next major project was to upgrade the heating.

The pictures below show the steadily rising thermometer recorder in the driveway outside St John the Evangelist. The central photo shows Terry Whitworth updating the display along the way.  It’ was a slow job raising sufficient funds but in the end the hard work paid off. The ‘Friends’ laid on many events to raise funds and many grants were obtained by the Revd Lynda Klimas from a variety of donors.

St John’s Church: Dedication of the newly installed heating system.

On Monday, March 11 at 7.30 p.m. a service to dedicate the new heating system was held. The service was led by the Revd L Klimas, who also gave the story of the heating project. The Dedication was carried out by the Bishop of Bedford.

Prayers were led by the Revd G Orpin and the junior choir sang Colours of Day (Light up the Fire) and the Benefice choir sang Beauty for Brokeness. All the hymns sung by the congregation had a ‘heating’ theme.

Rev Keith Brown was the organist and played The Royal Fireworks by Handel at the end of the service. Refreshments were then served.
