SAFARI SUPPER
20 June 2015
After a very uncertain weather forecast on Saturday 20 June, our drinks hosts (Tim & Carolyn) decided to go for it - and Safari Supper welcome drinks were served in their garden from 6.30 onwards. Thank goodness for the gazebos which kept everyone dry because it was actually raining as people arrived! By 7 pm however, the sun had come out and diners set off in many different directions in search of their starter. After they had eaten, everyone was anxious to know where they would find their main course and the hosts gave out envelopes which saw another exodus and people walking and driving from one end of the village to the other. Appetites satisfied, it was time to go back to St John's Church where a delicious selection of puddings awaited served by Brenda, Karen and Elizabeth. Coffee and tea were then on offer and Tim & Carolyn invited everyone to partake of home-made limoncello, sloe gin or coffee liqueurs. The raffle was well supported and a vote of thanks was given by William Hollington who thanked to everyone who took part in whatever way - hosting, cooking, providing raffle prizes, serving and clearing. The atmosphere in church was buzzing with lots of talking and laughter.
Altogether, we sold 60 tickets and the total raised was a magnificent £875 all of which goes to the upkeep of the church buildings and grounds. Thank you to all our supporters.
