SAFARI SUPPER
28 June 2013
This year’s Safari Supper took place on Saturday 28 June 2013 to raise funds for the Friends of St John’s Church. It was a lovely summer day after the recent bad weather and it was touch and go whether or not the evening could commence with a garden party. The organisers made a last minute wise decision and over 60 guests gathered for pre-dinner drinks in the garden at 7 Blunham Road. A little glass of bubbly got the evening off to a great start, and then folk departed to the many venues around the village to enjoy their starter course
Close on 8 p.m. those who hosted starters gave their guests envelopes to send them to the next destination for their main course. The fun here is nobody knows where they are going until they receive their envelope. People could be seen walking around the village enjoying the rare summer’s evening. It was not uncommon for folk to be found hitch-hiking from one end of the village to the other. Dessert was served at 9 p.m. in St John’s church with post dinner liqueurs courtesy of Carolyn and Tim. A raffle was held and the mid-year 100+ club draw was made with the £50 prize being won by Leigh Scantlebury.
A very big thank-you to everyone who hosted to make this a fantastic evening and of course thanks to everyone who supported the event. This is a great way to meet new people and over £870 was raised.
