SIXTIES NIGHT

9 November 2013

THE SWINGIN' SIXTIES came to Moggerhanger Village Hall on the night of Saturday 9 November. Roy, Maggie and George from 'Still Seeking' played and sang some classic numbers from famous artists and bands from that era.

The audience dressed in style - as you can see from the photo of Roger & Clare

Allen and Jo & William Hollington.  There were many Beatle look-alikes, mini-skirts and Mary Quant dresses as well as a good number of colourful hippies.

The menu was in style too with a starter of prawn or grapefruit cocktail followed by chicken-in-a-basket and a selection of puddings such as black forest gateau, lemon meringue pie, trifle and cheesecake. And the bar laid on some 'specials' too - Babycham, Snowballs, Martini and Cinzano.  There was a quiz devised by Tim Lister which won by Pat Whitworth's team and prizes were awarded for the best 60s outfits.

The evening was organised by the Friends of St John's Church and the proceeds of the evening were a magnificient £1113 which will be spent on important repairs and maintenance of the church building.

The prizes for best lady’s costume was awarded to Jo Hollington.
